anvi-interacitve fails to visualize a tree

this is what I try to do: http://merenlab.org/2016/02/27/the-anvio-interactive-interface/#11-newick-tree

And this is the error I get:

anvi-interactive --manual -t semi-core-phylogeny.newick -p manual-profile.db --title TM7-pylogeny
Interactive mode .............................: manual

File/Path Error: Your tree doesn't seem to be properly formatted. Here is what ETE had to say
                 about this: 'Unexpected newick format 'layer_orders        data_type
                 data_valuesemi_core_phyloge' '. Pity :/

This is my fault. sorry. I didn't realize I need to just have the newick and nothing else.
