Can't send mail after upgrade to r514 #439

I just upgraded ProjetSend from r375 to r514. At the login screen, my old
password didn't work, as the release notes forewarned me. However, when
attempting to use the password reset tool and submitting my email address, I
got the following message:

"E-mail couldn't be sent. If the problem persists, please contact an
administrator."

I am the administrator, but I don't know what to do. I'm guessing this a
problem with the function of sending email rather than my account not existing,
but I don't know for sure. Is there further debugging information I can
access? If it is a problem with email sending (which had been working before),
how can I fix that?

Hi Dave! The only thing we can do now is access the database itself to
establish a new password manually.
Are you comfortable doing that or do you want me to help you?

Thank you very much for the quick reply! I have access to the database so if
you tell me the specs for storing the password (which table, etc.) I should be
able to handle it.

I guess the greater question though is whether there's a problem with the email
sending functionality. Is there a way to troubleshoot that once I'm logged in?

Well, as another user found out, the authentication option is missing right now.
Maybe your server requeres it and that's why it won't send any emails?
I have already added it and a new patched release will be up soon.

Also, how about the error logs on the server? Can you get any info from there?

Haven't been able to access the error logs.

Do you have an ETA on the new patched release?

Can you try this pre-release version please?

Finally got around to installing your pre-release version, after completely
deleting our old installation as well as dropping all the database tables from
the old install.

So far so good, except for the email configuration. I'm working with our
network administrator to figure out what settings to use, but I'm at least able
to log in and get to the email settings page.

UPDATE...

We have tried a number of email configuration settings which should work -- we
are able to send mail from another application on our server -- but ProjectSend
(pre-release version) continues to be unable to send mail.

Is there any way we can debug the email process, maybe get a specific error
code/message??
