micheleg / dash-to-dock

A dock for the Gnome Shell. This extension moves the dash out of the overview transforming it in a dock for an easier launching of applications and a faster switching between windows and desktops.

Positioning dock on the left shifts workspace overview #2292

Description

This is likely a duplicate of https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1819, but thought I'd create a new issue.

Positioning the dock on the left of the screen seems to shift the entire workspace overview and eventually hides the next workspace. This issue has occurred at every resolution and scale that I've tried. (My laptop's default resolution is 1920x1680.)

Furthermore, the larger I make the dock, the more the workspace overview is shifted.

I'm on Fedora 40 running Gnome 46 and Dash to Dock 96.

Screenshots

For these screenshots, I disabled all other extensions and restarted Gnome.

Well, that's a feature, the problem is making the space good enough for showing the whole workspaces, but not something we can easily fix

This is related to https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/2326, https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/5791 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987734. The fix really belongs upstream in gnome-shell.
