this is a duplicate of https://github.com/mikekelly/hal-rfc/issues/17 (raised in support of https://github.com/dret/I-D/issues/48), because i am not sure which of those two repos is the best one to address this question? if this one is, i'll happily close https://github.com/mikekelly/hal-rfc/issues/17 and will start discussing the issue here.

it seems that https://github.com/mikekelly/hal-rfc has the more active community, with https://github.com/mikekelly/hal-rfc/issues/17 having an ongoing discussion. closing this issue.
