Impossible to compile in Yosemite 10.10 #13

Open rsilvestre opened 10 years ago

rsilvestre commented 10 years ago

Hi,

I'm beta tester in Yosemite Program.

I cannot compile afloat anymore. Xcode 6 preview with LLVM 6.0 asked me to convert old garbage collector in ARC automatically but it failed...

error: garbage collection is no longer supported
rsilvestre commented 10 years ago

Is any one here?

stewacide commented 10 years ago

Does it continue to work in Yosemite?

rsilvestre commented 10 years ago

No here. I suggest you one of this fork: https://github.com/millenomi/afloat/network

rickw commented 10 years ago

I've checked out master and run the ARC conversion. The offending lines stopping the conversion were the rearmDeathTimer and by casing NSApp to the delegate class and it will convert. Now I have to do some testing.

Same issue here. Afloat does not work on the official release of Yosemite anymore.

MechMykl commented 9 years ago

Would love to be able to use this plugin with Yosemite if anyone's been able to release a fix.

stewacide commented 9 years ago

Still works fine for me in Yosemite (upgraded in place to the final release).

MechMykl commented 9 years ago

@stewacide Wow. Not sure how I missed the menu entries the first time, pretty embarrassing haha.

Can confirm that an in-place upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite retains functionality. Horray!

Afloat crashes Keychain Access.app when it tries to load authentication dialog. Other than that I've had no issues.

kentcdodds commented 9 years ago

Just installed from afloat.en.softonic.com and I'm getting this every time I try to open PluginSuit:

I click "OK" and it closes the system preferences and opens the PluginSuit pane (in system preferences)

At this point, everything appears to be working alright, however, I don't get the window options that I've seen in videos about the app.

Any tips would be great! Thanks!

Look for Afloat 2.4.

kentcdodds commented 9 years ago

Thanks @stewacide, solved my problem :-)

Anybody looked at this one for Yosemite? Looks most promising https://github.com/rinckd/afloat

jatenk commented 9 years ago

Could anyone build it for me? I don't have XCode and currently no possibility of downloading it (almost no free disk space and really, really, really bad internet)

therealmarv commented 9 years ago

@jatenk I did not tried out myself but many people reporting that the latest binary of official Afloat 2.4 will also work on Yosemite. Just google for it. The new version I mentioned is only meant for devs and compilation in Yosemite.

mrfrankus commented 9 years ago

Hi Marvin,

I am attaching a zip of my own bundle for your consideration; use at your own risk as I don’t have X-Code anymore either:  Afloat-2.4.bundle.zip - http://tinyurl.com/pul99uu

BTW: Mine still works after upgrading to Yosemite (in-place). Frank.

@therealmarv Thanks, that repo that worked for me.

OS X: Yosemite 10.10.2

kleinlieu commented 9 years ago

This just worked for me on 10.10.3: "1. Install EasySIMBL

  1. Download Afloat here or here. Install Afloat.
  2. Enable SIMBL and Afloat in the EasySIMBL window. Quit EasySIMBL.
  3. Enjoy."
