Change copy link position for better usability #555

Closed minj closed 9 years ago

Original issue 555 created by ryanlimigrate on 2010-03-04T07:15:24.000Z:

Currently there are many copy links provided by FoxTrick. However, their positions are usually on the sidebar or on the header. While this could confuse users at times and sometimes they are distant from the things to be copied.

Take copy ratings for example, the copy links are on the header, but the ratings are on the bottom. Hence a user on the top have to hover on the icon, read the title to find out what the icon stands for. Another user on the bottom reading the ratings may not know there are icons for copying ratings on the page. This gives bad usability. The same thing happens for hattrick-youthclub links like copy scout comment, etc.

So there shouldn't be a sole rule to put copy links on the header or sidebar. Instead, it should be decided by each module.

I like the idea, as for the icons use only those for simple theme

and the placement would be best here http://easycaptures.com/0929442253

Yes, I think putting them there in the header is better. But for each module there would be a different approach, whether to use icons, where to put...

you started it with the skilltable ;) (actually i did already so myself for rejected youthplayers). and i think it should be right-aligned of Rating Table in that case

So this is my idea about copy rating. (See attachment) Of course keeping the consistency is important.

I changed the one for skill table mainly because the icon on header lengthens the header a lot and it's still there when the table is collapsed...

that's it. though not bold maybe to distinguish it from the team name. underline also maybe?

Links provided by RatingsToClipboard have been changed according to discussions above as of 946d85f17a64a8eface9a31e7264f64d75e1128e r4532.

But I think there is at least another module that need changes:

As far as I am concerned, other modules with copy links on the page header/sidebar make sense.

TODO: the link of CopyPosting should be a text link on the footer of each post.

Okay, whatever. Then I'd just mark this as fixed.
