Are reforged crackets allowed? For example, adding a metal band to the basket as a repair? And does Whammo trac-ball have a monopoly on crackets?

They are allowed, at least in pick-up games, as long as they are reforged in such a way that they don't risk player safety. I think I've only played with Whammo trac-ball rackets as crackets, but I would welcome competition from compatible products.

Do you think "Sometimes we play with unofficial rules, fields, or equipment" in Variations is insufficient?

For repiars, I could make note of allowing cracket repairs in the rules and possibly make another document to show how I repair them.

As for the competition, do you think Cracket is the best place to say that any compatible product of approximately the same shape, size, and functionality is allowed?
