Energy between processed and raw commodity #3

At the current stage, we are converting processed crop back into its primary equivalent because we do not have the respective calorie conversion factor (e.g. Pizza/Beer). However, we do recognize that the conversion is incorrect because the energy content of raw material are not equivalent to its final product due to processing (Whether exothermic or endothermic).

Furthermore, we recognize although the theoretical calorie may be close, but the calorie intake may be significantly different due to the digestive process of human body. (e.g. a raw potato and boiled potato or baked potato may have similar calorie content, but the energy conversion by the human body is more efficient if it has been processed and thus higher energy intake.).

Despite these shortfall, we agree that even a system which takes into account of the processed specific calorie conversion factor may not desirable unless the estimate is accurate. Otherwise we would be introducing high amount of variance into the system to reduce a small amount of bias which may result in less accurate final estimates for actual calorie consumption.

This issue is to recognize the shortfall and possible improvements if data are reliable.

This is clarified by Thomasz that we compute the calorie without pre-standardization. However, there is still no information regarding whether the calorie is for the energy level or for the amount can be absorbed by human.
