a way to list channels

since channels became their own thing you know can't see them unless you manually type them in. We could have a default channel that is only used to announce chancels (and maybe entering and leaving channels which might also have the benefit of letting you remember where you where logged in accross comps)

I think the idea behind the new channel system is to allow for 'invite-only' channels. But if you have a channel you want listed publicly this issue would be nice

Public channels and private channels should be able to co-exist. I think it makes sense to have roughly these four relationships between a user and channel

• public channels you can see but haven't joined
• public channels you are in
• secret channels you are in
• secret channels you can't see
