This is a module extending capabilities of WebXR Device API, primarily intended for (but not limited to) AR scenarios. The goal of the API is to expose depth buffer of the users' envionment (i.e. distances from view's plane to the real world).
The API was discussed in the Immersive Web Community Group's depth-sensing repository, and during CG group calls. The API was also Origin-Trialed in Chrome for Android for 2 milestones, and it undergone modifications after user & implementer feedback to allow for efficient implementation of the API on different devices / frameworks.
