Quantum suit weakness #91

Quantum nano suits from IC2 should have some kind of weakness as to not be too overpowered. Maybe poison?

This came out a lot longer winded then intended

I love this server but I'm beginning to feel as if there's no point playing the game from a pvp stance once your base if covered by a shield and you have the quantum suit. You cannot be hurt by other opponents or have anyone get near the base. As for the monsters? I think ender dragons could be pulling me apart and it'd be no problem.

Both are overpowered but nothing poison is going to fix. The disease removal abilities of the suit are terrific but the shear damage reduction vs energy consumption is messed up something fierce. I saw new millennium bring the point up to you before on another board and I had never made one before. Im forced to agree with him now though.

Instead of a sharpness 5 sword or nano blade doing 200 energy to each suit piece they should be slicing off at least a 10th of the energy. I mean the armour has 10mil energy in each piece and good slashes barely scratch it? I can fall into a pile of zombies 400 thick and it'll be like falling into a cuddle puddle than a horrible meat grinder.

And as for the mffs shield does it have any weakness at all? I don't think so. I fired off tons of nukes over one and it didn't even really scratch the energy bar. Seems both nonsensical and... I don't know; boredom inducing. I did notice an interesting weakness to the cell phone jukebox with the shield though.

It should be difficult for armour to protect you against something, especially if it uses energy. I don't think any sci fi shield technology has ever been more powerful than the conventional weapons in that particular world. There always at least some weakness like a shield generator outside the shield or something... as it stands now if you have a mfsu attached to a mffs its uncrackable.

I know you don't want kids sending world anchors out and leaving them around lagging up the server but I think you should give the anchor a try. Link each anchor to the person who made it and if they don't remove it from the world when they're done, I don't know, make it kill them :D. On that note maybe make it so the tunnel bore does extra damage to a mffs. Could lead to some interesting sieges against something unbeatable at current.

I wanted to bring up the tunnel bore as another issue as I wanted to make a train tunnel to the map edge, but think about a shield bore... I kind of like it.

As an afterthought, maybe make a mode for mining laser do more damage To quantum or nano but take up more energy? Some shots already take up quite a lot of juice but do nothing useful like scatter or horizontal. Has anyone honestly shot a horizontal mining laser?

If nano saber can penetrate even hardest armor, then nothing is OP :D

It should at least be threatening to quantum. Everything is a joke to it. As it kind of should be? It's hard to make but it shouldn't make everyone gods. Player battles wouldn't even be enjoyable, just loooong.

If nano saber deals 2heart damage minimum to any armor, it should be fine and everyone will fear death again!

But now you're requiring everyone to carry a nano saber instead of balancing the armour agaisnt the world in general.

It is expencive endgame armor! You don't nerf it you provide tool to make it weak (nano saber), i don't feel like dying to noob with iron sword with my quantum set on me, you don't provide noobs with a way to kill player that spend way more time on server and have much better equipment. Nano saber is much cheaper than suit, so it should be that, also probably do 1.5heart to quantum 2heart to nano, problem solved! 1 heart to gravitation suit.

Your whole argument is based in the wild idea that you're going to get killed by an iron sword. If you leave yourself with no EU, a half heart and in range of an iron wielding noob then you kind of deserved it.

It's expensive.... maybe. At this point I could go into quantum suit production and have the server equipped by nightfall.

I'm not saying nerf it so iron swords even deal actual hearts to it I'm saying at least make it so the energy is depleted at a rate that is reasonable. Do you even have it yet? With it equipped I should be a terrifying shock troop not a god on earth.

Go.ahead get a Sharp V malachite sword and swing it at quantum and see it only dissipates 200 or so energy. Now were talking about end game armor being unstoppable vs end game enchants. Something a whole portion of the game is devoted to.

Just make the energy depletion reasonable vs damage. even if it was 2000 eu per swing i would feel as if I were scratching the 10 million point surface.

The only reason I charge anymore is if I can no longer fly or my helmet tells me I may need to actually eat something. Monsters are a complete joke and I imagine a serious player fight would end with likewise results.

Some people do not want to be pigeon holed into wielding the quantum blade when it takes a longer time (if you dont have any spawners) to farm exp for enchants that should at least be threatening to end game players.

Im fairly new but Im to understand sharpness 5 is considered almost op on vanilla servers. How can we have this server where once your are established a sharp 5 isn't even an issue.

Go play on vanilla server if you like basic stuff so much, there are many vanilla HC servers, if you dont like technic servers with energy armors and energy weapons you came to a very wrong place. If only thing you do is complain how vanilla is cool and stuff, play there, here it is about getting hooked up on latest tech stuff and kicking ass!

Im not complaining that vanilla is better... I've never even played on one. Im stating that quantum armour makes people invincible. Thats not getting hooked up that's just bad mechanics.

I make an actual valid argument about the game breaking nature of the armor, there are plenty of other reasons aside from it removing the need to bother for enchants; I mean the server owner DID add a whole bunch of modded enchants he imagined himself, and you wrangle me into some fat nerd grouping.

If we both met each other on the field of battle it would end in a stalemate every time.

Now, the solutions. They are based on several ideas.

1) idea : "it's not normal that everyone wants the same armor because it is the best". Meaning, a good situation is when you have a CHOICE to do; "what armor am i gonna take right now?". An armor for a situation, another armor for another situation, etc...

Solutions; 1) a) remove quantum armor and gravitation suit. Why? Because we got armors from Nether ores (or rocks, i always confuse them) which are totally doing their job. But that's a bad solution, as we're removing a part of a great mod (IC²). 1) b) balance those 2 armors so that a real choice is to be made with others. Example : quantum and gravitation suite armor only absorb 50% of the damage taken. Rest unchanged; 50% of those damage go in the energy of the suite, which has ridiculously high amounts of energy, so basically you're invincible to 50% of the taken damage. But you fully take the 50 other percents. Consequences: mobs scare you again. You are in danger in the Nether. You don't swim in lava anymore and feel like being a god. PvP has an interest again. You consider going for a dragonstone armor because it might absorb more damage, at the cost though of the speed, the flying and the no-hunger and no-poison power. (<- we should study this)

2) idea : "it is normal that there is a BEST armor that everyone wants. It should be costy... but not making you a god." Solution : quantum and gravi plate only absorb 85% of the damage taken. You take the 15 last percent damage. Consequence : lava is scary again. Mobs might be scary if in groups. PvP has an interest again. Everyone has to build IC² machines to get this armor.

You may understand by reading this that i strongly support solution 1)b). But it all depends on the owner, mushroomhostage, it's HIS server.
