Just to add, this happens for both .vob and .avi type video files.

For me, happens with .IFO files. (VIDEO_TS.IFO) in use with a DVD structure.
And, for this all I need to do is start watching it (finishing it is not
needed), and it disappears both on the list and
in the config.

I've used the Manual Episode Importer on a number of occasions to add listed
episodes
without any problems.
Are you using the "Add Listed Episode", or the "Add Unlisted Episode"?
If if unlisted, why is it unlisted> (eg. Not in the import paths)
Do you have the "keep references to files that are no longer available on the is
computer" and "only show episodes that are available on computer" options on or
off?

Hi,
I always 'add unlisted episode' when im finding information for a new series
that im
adding to my computer, and i always download the info for the whole series. When
adding new episodes after the first time however, i use 'add listed episode'
because
i already have the info for it, so just need to link the video file to the
database info.
all my options (keep references to files that are no longer....etc) are set to
off
except for 'only show episodes that are available on computer' which is set to
'on'.
do you think it would help if i set 'keep references to files that are no longer
available on the this computer' to 'on'?

The listed button is for adding files from the list below the buttons (which
takes a
minute to populate), the unlisted for files not in the list - but it doesn't
make
much difference as the listed just means you don;t need to browse for the file.
What I really wanted to know is if your adding files from outside the import
paths,
because then having 'keep references to files that are no longer
available on the this computer' turned off will result in the episodes being
removed.

hmm, ok, ill give it a try with 'keep references...' turned on.

UPDATE: No, ive just had a look and the 'keep references...' option is already
ticked, so that cant be the problem :-(

Agreed - probablem still exisits..but still only with .IFO (DVD structure)
files.

actually, I have never tried a .vob file. But yes, no problems with AVI thus
far.

Update:
I've recently reformatted my HTPC. I started from scratch.
I have the newest version of MP (1.0.1), along with the latest Streamed MP + My
TV
Series/Moving Pics. These plugins came with the Streamed MP installer.
It seems now that after I watch ANYTHING that was manually added, the file
association goes away. I can even just play it for a few seconds. When I quit
MP,
and open it back up, it can't find the file.
I took a look in the MY TV Series config, and sure enough the entry in the DB is
"grayed out" - with no link to the file associated with it.
The file once again appears in the "manually add" list... where I can add it
again.
However, as soon as I watch it again, it's gone off the list..again...

very odd that this is happening for some people and not others.
i have a workaround for the problem if you want. I created a small .cmd program
which
re-copies the TVSeries database into the MP databases file everytime i boot the
machine up. ive attached the program as a .txt file, you just need go into it,
and
change any addresses that might be different for where you want to keep the
backup TV
series database file, then save it as .cmd. after that you need to set up a
scheduled
task to tell XP to perform the refresh every time you boot up your machine...
control panel -> scheduled tasks -> add scheduled task

Could someone upload thier log files for this - preferably one for the import,
and a
second for playing, and then a third when the files is missing.
Also a database that this has happen to would be good, as long as it's not too
large.

Update. I didn't read the comments above my last post... When I check the
"keep
associations for files not on my PC" box, it seems to stay in all circumstances
so far!
It's very odd though, because the files aren't going ANYWHERE, and they are
always on
my computer. If it doesn't work over the next few weeks, I'll try that cmd work
around, it's a great idea.

I also did a complete reinstall last night (including OS) after my boot section
died
on my hard drive.
Everything seems fine now here as well. not quite sure why as im still using
the same
version of MP and TVSeries. The only thing that i can think of is that its an
old bug
that got retained when upgrading (rather than reinstalling) MP.
So, for anybody who is still having this problem, i would recommend a complete
reinstall of MP (1.0.1) and TV Series (2.2.3389).

This is happening for me also on version 2.3.3389 (Apr 12 release). There is
no need
to watch the entire episode - simply starting the video and stopping after a few
seconds is enough to lose the episode link.
Checking the database itself, the record for the episode in the local_episode
table
is being deleted. The online_episode table retains the episode information (I
have
the keep episode information setting selected).
This only happens to manually added episodes (I get it with the specials mostly,
since I don't have the season/episode information in the filenames). The files
are
in the normal import paths. Files that automatically import are not affected.

I should add that this happens to both .mkv and .avi files. I haven't tested
with
other containers yet, but it doesn't look like a file type issue.

rob.meredith - When do you scan to get the online info for an episode? is it
being
done automatically when you start the plugin in mediaportal? (During the a
scan, new
local episodes are delete and re-created with the full series/season info - I'm
just
wondering if that's not happening correctly)
Are you able to send me a database with a file in it that will go missing when
you
play it?

Rob, do you have "keep associations for files not on my PC" checked?
Original comment by scott.so...@gmail.com
on 7 Jun 2009 at 3:16
Hi guys,
Sorry for taking so long to check back in - rather hectic at the moment with
work, etc.
@mmalham, yes, episodes update automatically on starting the plugin in MP. The
pointer doesn't disappear until MP is restarted (possibly if a new scan was
initiated
too?). It's only watched files though.
@scott No - Keep references to files that are no longer available on computer
is not
checked.
I've attached my database file. See local_episodes.rowid=4977 for an example
of an
episode that will disappear when watched (I've watched it, it's disappeared,
and then
I've manually added it back in). See online_episodes.rowid=4651 for an episode
that
was present but has disappeared after watching.
