'Auto Generation of Episode Titles when Online Data does not Exist' don't work #564

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install MP-TVseries v2.7.0 or newer version

2. Import files not in thetvdb.com, for example:
Blah Da Show s01e01 Blah 1.mkv
Blah Da Show s01e02 Blah 2.mkv
MyTripToSpain.S01E01.The Beach.avi
MyTripToSpain.S01E02.We rent a car.avi

3. Start Configuration->TVseries->Import Wizard. Finish Import and go to
Details tab. Right Click on series and select 'Ignore on Scan' so we dont
prompt to match series everytime. Enter GUI and select MyTripToSpain or Blah Da
Show, then in MP select season 1 look at the episode names.

What is the expected output?
MyTripToSpain:
1: The Beach
2: We rent a car

Blah Da Show:
1: Blah 1
2: Blah 2

What do you see instead?
MyTripToSpain:
1: Episode 1
2: Episode 2

Blah Da Show:
1: Episode 1
2: Episode 2

What version of MP-TVSeries and MediaPortal are you using? I have tried
MP-TVseries v 2.7.0 to v2.8.3 and MP 1.1.3

What Skin are you using?
Standard

On what operating system?
XP pro SP3 32bit and Win7 home premium SP1 64bit

Please provide any additional information below e.g. Logs & Pictures.

It works with v2.6.9 and MP 1.1.3:
1. Uninstalled TVseries v2.8.3 from Add/Remove Programs. Did NOT delete
database or artwork (first import will go much faster)
2. Then I installed v2.6.9
3. All OK, now above works!

I forgot to mention that I also tried to change the episode name manually (I
think it was v 2.7.0), but the edited name did not show up when I started
MediaPortal and went to TVseries.

I tested this in MP-TVSeries 3.X, and the episode title change worked fine.

this was fixed in 2.8.3.

Note: if you dont delete your database and had something before 2.8.3 then you
will have the auto entries already in your database. you can either delete your
db (keep your artwork) or just delete the episodes/series in questions and
re-import. Probably easier to just delete the db.

I think I did try 2.8.3 on my test PC and my real MP computer, and I did delete
the 'problem' series from db and reimported them, but maybe I did not ;) I try
again and try to confirm if this is fixed now in 2.8.3...

I can't see that it was fixed in 2.8.3. Tried with XP pro SP3 32 bit and MP
1.1.3.

1. Uninstalled working 2.6.9, did not delete database and artwork.
2. Installed 2.8.3.
3. Problem back, all series that is'nt in thetvdb.com, get episodenames like
"Episode X".
4. Uninstalled 2.8.3 and deleted database and artwork (needed to do it
manually, uninstall did not remove as it said it would).
5. Installed 2.8.3 again and then imported all series.
6. Still same problem.
7. Uninstalled 2.8.3, did not delete database or artwork.
8. Installed 2.6.9, all OK again.

By default it will create the Episode X titles, if you dont want them you can
edit it and it will now work (previous build it didnt). Did you actually edit
the the fields in the details tab?

You can override the default behaviour to create the Episode X titles. This can
only be done by editing the database manually. You need to edit the
'AutoGenerateEpisodeTitles' entry in the Option table. See the FAQ on how to
edit the database. Note: This should be done before importing otherwise your
existing episodes will still have the autogenerated title.

I did'nt edit the fields, as I have about 400 episodes to edit If I need to do
it manually.

"You need to edit the 'AutoGenerateEpisodeTitles' entry in the Option table",
OK, this was new for me. Before it just worked. Maybe put a option in
configuration GUI to change this to as it was before?

Its mentioned in the Release Notes for 2.8.3. It wont go into to config unless
we make some advanced settings panel similar to MovingPictures as the config
already is a bit of a mess.

OK, I understand. Maybe we could change back to how it worked before? I mean
change the default value so it works as before. Would that give problems on
other stuff in TVseries or could that be safe (also so I know what can happen
if I edit that value manually)?

Well, this plugin is really only for ppl that have real tvshows that are
online...but sometimes these shows are missing data and the users local files
dont have episode titles. Its also for episodes that air in the future that
have no episode title online yet so I think the way it is now is the best.

There are many occasions when the episodes are not available online, such as
DVD extras are not allowed online, so I would hope that you were considering at
least think about it. However, 2.6.9 works fine for me, so there's no panic for
me. Thanks for all the hard work you put down! We drop this matter for now,
there are more important things in this world than this detail ;) Happy easter!
