This project is meant to do an analysis of the Federalist Papers to see whether or not its content is more egalitarian (for the people and equality) or elitist (for those who wrote it).

Project Update 11/10 #18

This week we met and discussed the good progress Shane is making with topic modeling, which will definitely be a helpful part of our analysis and seems to be not only progressing extremely well but also appears eminently applicable to our research question and our corpus. We also discussed the fact that network analysis appears to be unsuitable for our project and thus we are unlikely to pursue the analysis down that particular avenue. In lieu of the network analysis, Nate has begun work on the project writeup and is progressing well. Patrick provided some of the basics for the project's web presence but still has stuff left to do on this front. Our assignments this week for Nate and Shane are to keep working on project writeups, for Patrick it is to keep adding to the HTML and CSS for the project's website.

I am excited to see what the end result of topic modeling looks like on your site, how you plan to display it, and what importance it will have in regard to your research question. After taking a quick look at your site, it allows my mind to wander at what sort of design structure you will be going for and if you will be the only ones using a vertical navigation bar. I think it is a good idea that you guys dropped network analysis, as I feel that would have taken up a large swath of time that you didn't necessarily have. Overall, I am waiting in anticipation to see the end result of this project and hope you keep up the good work.
