Adding the option to choose Rutger van Haasteren's Fast Sherman Morrison Code

This is a duplicate attempt of #343. In #343 we still need some discussion on the exact mechanism for default behavior, some other minor things need merging, and there are probably some pragma's missing for test coverage.
