Case triggering sensor and fit #13

Open The-Bozo opened 4 years ago

The case as provided constantly triggers the sensor even with paint applied as suggested. The only way to stop the pololu sensor from constantly triggering from the case is to pull the board all the way thru the front of the case. Also noted the cad rendering in the readme doesn't match the files provided. 20200714_075445 20200714_075432

try painting the case black, somehow the white case interferes with the sensor

I was just about to post about this issue.

The best way to over come it is to print the case in Black PLA ... this stops this issue.

This case design is really bad. The instructions claim that the sensor "clips into place" however, it does not, at all. I have had to pull the sensor out really far as you show (when I printed the first 5 in clear PLA as all the photos show) and then hot glued it in this position.

I have made 5 of these already and the painting of the underside of the sensor is not a great idea to fix this. When removing or replacing the cover, I've scraped of the black enamel paint that I applied. I've since started to file down the underside first, to get better adherence but it's still not a good solution.

Thanks. I did find that electrical tape worked well so the paint suggestion doesn't seem to be working as anticipated.

Also noticed the sensors PCB does not fit well, would be great if it actually held it in place.

Better case design would be greatly appreciated. Maybe one that doesn't have to open to replace the battery.
