This is a bug due to changed media scanner on Android. We have two approaches how to fix it: https://github.com/nextcloud/android/pull/6329 https://github.com/nextcloud/android/pull/6352
I hope that we can have one solution within next minor release.
It seems there's a fix available, but has been stale for more than 6 months. Any chances we get this fixed soon? Thanks!
I've a similar issue. When syncing a folder I can't see my files in Androids gallery. I have to rename the folder and rename it back (outside Nextcloud App, using "Samsung My Files" app), so the new files are recognized and shown in Android gallery.
This also is a problem with auto-uploaded files, if the option to move uploaded files in a different directory is enabled.
Same issue, It really sucks to have to wander around in the \data folder, under the 20 subfolders, with a file explorer application, just to find the image you've downloaded and want to send by SMS. Is this in a roadmap? Or should we abandon the idea of Nextcloud on a smartphone for such a basic task?
For me the problem recently went away.

After month of waiting I have abandoned to see the Nextcloud App as a "sync use case".
What I see is:
Remote file explorer for my nextcloud -> Nextcloud App
Synchronizing images and videos and whole folders and keep them in sync with the nextcloud server-> Other Sync Apps
My recommendation is AutoSync
I shouldn't have to use Auto sync, or any other app, to do what this app used to do automatically, and then stopped doing.

I see it as "as long as I don't payed for it and don't contributed" I can only wish that the app is doing what I want, so for me its okay to have two apps for two use cases especially if one of the use cases is just a background service with configure and forget.
But there is something on the road map for sync functionality - but I can't wait until its finished ;-)
As you can see here [TOP] Enhance sync folders real "syncing" is not done yet.

abandoned? this feature is really missing
Interestingly, aside from the recent bug with downloads not working, this is not an issue on my end. Files that are downloaded show up in the Android Files app and the gallery.
It also works with auto-uploaded files that are moved to the storage location.
Los archivos PDF no se descargan, se intenta descargar, pregunta con que app quieres visualizarlo pero no hay nada descargado. Eso pasa solo con la versión 3.28.1
At least for Photos and Videos the Android App Feature/Option to be recognized as a CloudMediaProvider could solve this issue or at least provide a workaround. As far as I understand this would allow you to directly search for and select media stored on your Nextcloud from the Android Media/Photo Picker. See #12729
Steps to reproduce
Expected behaviour
Normally I'm able to upload pictures and music with my PC to my NextCloud server and download them on my phone. The files are automatically visible in Gallery and Music apps.
Actual behaviour
No files downloaded from nextcloud are visible in ANY apps aside from NextCloud.
Environment data
Android version: 10
Device model: SM960U
Nextcloud app version: 3.12.0
Logs
No errors are produced.
I'd like it if your app just gave us the option of keying in a location with an "Expert Mode" Setting or something, so we can just fix this ourselves. What's aggravating is it used to work, and then it's like you guys updated and all of a sudden we're back to bugs we had four years ago.
