Windows client usability improvements #11

Here are a few items that would help with the Windows client usability:

HIGH PRIORITY

  1. Install it as a service
  2. "One click" connect or simply "always on"
  3. Make it visible and manageable in the system tray; the connectivity status should also be 100% clear via the system tray icon shape or color
  4. Support right-click options on the system tray icon to perform some very limited functions such as checking the version, checking for updates, etc.
  5. Support a quit/logoff option
  6. Support split tunnel for bypassing the VPN for specified applications
  7. Help function

LOWER PRIORITY--accessible via right-click options on system tray or perhaps IT admin only

  1. Displaying which gateway it is connected to
  2. Display internal and public IP
  3. Perhaps support changing which gateway it is connected to for users who want to bypass regional restrictions
  4. Setting MTU size
  5. Account management (associated group, pricing plan, etc.)
  6. DNS control

I updated the original list to separate it into two priorities. The first priority is really the "must have" while the second priority would be things that we may not want to expose to the end user (only the IT administrator). This is to maintain the spirit of keeping the user experience as simple as possible (always-on).
