Missing DMG file for running Manuscrape on Mac systems #97

The manuscrape release from April 23rd said "Support Mac https://github.com/nikobojs/manuscrape_electron/pull/77 (.dmg file will be uploaded in near future releases) 🍎"

Will it be uploaded soon

Hi VirgilGunder. Thanks for the question.

Unfortunately I cannot say with certainty right now. However I'm in contact with a guy who might help maintain a mac version in the near future. I cannot promise anything on his behalf, as it is unpaid/volunteer work.

Also, I might buy my first Mac relatively soon, which is required to compile the DMG. It depends on some funding on another project that requires Mac support as well. I'll find out mid december.

So my best guess is that Mac will be supported in january or february.

The code does not need to be rewritten. An earlier version has been tested on Mac and works. So it is only a matter of compiling, code signing and uploading (on every manuscrape release). So if you know some techy person (who knows "Electron" and "NodeJS" a little bit), they might even be able to get it to work on your machine within a few hours. In that case, I'd love to get in contact with the developer.

I hope that was enough answer to your question, and I'm sorry there has been miscommunication from my side on the Mac support. I naively expected Mac developers to help out on every release, which simply did not happen. But the app itself can be compiled to Mac and was tested on Mac some versions ago.
