Hey everyone,
I contacted thoughtworks, but they never got back to me. I can't remember who actually ended up sorting it, sorry! :)

We are looking for sponsors to cover food and equipment.
Last year we awesomely had ThoughtWorks cover food for Brisbane and I believe they sponsored Melbourne and Sydney.
I was thinking that we could have sponsorship packages similar to http://campjs.com/sponsor.html and try to get sponsors this year in a collective effort.
@harrietgrace was it you who organised the sponsorship in Brisbane last year? @ajfisher can you shed some light on the sponsorship in Melbourne & Sydney? Also what were the attendance numbers from the last events?
I'll put together a draft sponsorship page soon.

Thanks @harrietgrace perhaps it was @AnnaGerber?
@garrows I asked ThoughtWorks Melbourne - I'll post once I hear back from them. TW sponsored pizzas for node.js meetup last few meetups
I think NICTA will be happy to cover food as well as venue hosting for the Sydney event. I'll need to confirm this but we've definitely talked about it internally already...
@garrows I have forwarded to you the relevant emails from last year with details of ThoughtWorks sponsorship for NBDBris
Cool. In the end TW provided sponsorship for both Melb and Sydney. I've got contacts for both but I think @AnnaGerber was on all the stuff for Brisbane.
I wonder if we can get some sort of national sponsorship from TW going for all three sessions.
To that point here are some potential sponsors I think might be worth talking to - do we have any "ins" into any of these companies?
Any other ideas???
So the big thing with sponsorship is that the sponsors want to get something out of it whether through branding exposure, opportunity to be cool by association or access to potential customers.
I think we can accommodate all of those things fairly easily.
I'll take a point to create a sponsorship pack as a page / set of bits. Would be good to get a view from peeps in terms of what sort of things we'd want a sponsor to contribute?
Okay I banged some notes into a wiki page for the moment so peeps can edit it here:
https://github.com/nodebotsau/nbdau/wiki/Sponsorship
Definitely appreciate everyone's view here and then we can go looking for peeps.
Just as an update. Have reached out to Intel ANZ and they have responded. Will catch up with them more when I'm in Sydney next week. Sponsorship discussions have been around Galileo's potentially and I'm meeting with the product manager to discuss further.
Does anyone else have any leads / thoughts on sponsors we could get in touch with?
Update:
Intel ANZ have provided us with Galileo boards for each location to use for demo and for a prize.
LiFX have also provided a prize for each location.
Finally, TronixLabs have offered a great discount until 31 August for all participants.
@garrows and @DamonOehlman have details for all of this and will arrange the bits required at each location such as getting things delivered etc.
Melb and Sydney are still looking for food and drink sponsors for our events (assuming Bris is sorted @garrows ?)
Thanks @ajfisher. The LiFx just got it delivered. I think it would be best if we connect it up on the day so people can connect to it and hack away if they want. Still give it away at the end though. What are you guys going to do?
Was actually @geekscape who arranged so thanks to Andy.
I think that's a good idea. Should get some interesting uses of it then too.
FYI. I took delivery of the Galileo's today from Intel. @DamonOehlman they are in your stash sitting with Sax in the JBA Sydney office. @garrows I'll get yours express posted Monday so you should have Wednesday. Note that there are no SD cards with them so you might want to go grab a couple and put yocto on them.
