Jack setup #5

I installed linuxband and jack. After starting Qjackctl and linuxband there is no sound. In the area connections in jack there is a section Jack-MIDI. On the left side (readable) you can see linuxband-player, but on the right side (writable) is nothing. So I cannot connect linuxband. How could this issue be solved and is there a possibility to run linuxband without jack?

5 years later, I have the exact same issue Ubuntu 18.04

Another year later, still same issue on Ubuntu 19.10. Only way I get Qsynth to appear in QJackCtl Connections option is by configuring Qsynth to use 'jack' as the MIDI device. Then if I patch linuxband-player.midi_out with qsynth.midi_00, and hit 'Play' on Linuxband -- still nothing.

Not sure if a2jmidid is the right answer, as per the SO Q&A here. I tried it i.e. installed a2jmidid and started it using a2jmidid -e, and made the QJackCtl Connections but still doesn't seem to work, although Qsynth seems to be receiving MIDI events, but I cannot get any sound out of it. I can get sound out of Qsynth when it is connected with Qtractor for midi-out.
