14 years ago This should also apply to links as well. I can imagine that a blog will pay us for clicks. So I'm imagining parsing any shumarked url by domain and add needed tracking codes on there. This part is simple to do.
However, the question now becomes how to handle the user experience for shumarking books. I don't see a lot of people shumarking the amazon buy page for a book. What's more likely is amazon putting a "shumark this" link on all their product pages like the fb and twitter links.
Eventually set up a system that intelligently deals with links when they are bookmarlet'd. In this case, rewrite the Amazon URL so that the Shumarks gets a referrer fee if someone shumarks a book on amazon. This could eventually be extended to other link situations, like purchases etc.
