Abstract (max. 200 words): When thinking about how to make an awesome dataset or innovative new software tool openly available, what other issues should you consider so that people can find and reuse your work? Learning from our experience with a recent large-scale MRI dataset for vision (BOLD5000, https://bold5000.github.io/), and Ana's experience working in a university library program focused on data sharing, we will walk though key issues to consider when preparing a dataset or tool to be open and reusable. These issues include metadata, discoverability, versioning, permanent identifiers (e.g. Digital Object Identifiers), copyright, licensing, citation, linking related work, and metrics of reuse.

Preferred Session Open science in policies and regulations
