[discussion] Move messytables to its own organization #56

Closed domoritz closed 11 years ago

domoritz commented 11 years ago

This should be considered to encourage more people to contribute to messytables.

@frabcus, @paulfurley, @rgrp @pudo @davidread opinions?

Organization at: https://github.com/organizations/messytables

rossjones commented 11 years ago

Can't see the point, and not sure why it would make more people contribute. Why not just leave it in OKFN?

domoritz commented 11 years ago

@rossjones Well, I don't have any strong opinions about this but I could imagine that a separate organization could show that messytables is not just used by the OKFN.

rufuspollock commented 11 years ago

@domoritz like @rossjones I'm a strong -1 on moving this and think it could just stay here. We've now discussed this in several cases and the benefits seem minimal compared to hassle (you can always have a dedicated team if you need permissions).

On point about use I think for that you just want something in the README or docs. What about booting an issue for that - i.e. list users of messytables.

domoritz commented 11 years ago

Okay, great. Let's keep messytables here then. I'll create a team when it becomes necessary but leave everything as it is for now.

Created #57 to list messytables users somewhere in the wiki or the readme.
