@OlssonF 👋 Let me start with an apology: I am the editor-in-chief and I have neglected JOSE for several months due to plain overwhelm. I have cut down on other service and am back here with intention of reviving our little alt-journal. Thank you for your submission! Given the time that has passed, do you have updates to the paper?

OlssonF commented 6 months ago

@labarba Since the submission we have continued to develop and improve the tutorial and so some edits have been made to the code. We have made some minor edits to the paper.md this week that reflect these changes.

For reviewers, we would suggest S. K. Morgan Ernest, who recently published with you. In addition, from your reviewers database we suggest Jeffrey Hollister and/or Jem Stachelek, both R coders with backgrounds in ecology.

Thanks

@labarba Hi Lorena, we were wondering if there has been any been any progress on the reviews of our submission?

@OlssonF thanks for submitting the education material of the NEON Forecasting Challenge. I wondered if you can consider to make a shorter version (max 4 pages). Please note that the submission guideline suggest a maximum of 1000 words. Due to the nature of your work, I think you should target 4 pages (without references). For instance, you can make a shorter version of The tutorial section (and include it in the README of the repository instead). I'm sharing below what the guideline indicates in regards to a limited content in the article.

JOSE papers contain a limited set of metadata, plus Summary & Reference sections. We explicitly do not publish long-form articles, because the scholarship represented by a JOSE article is contained in the software or learning modules themselves. Expected length is around 1000 words max.

OlssonF commented 1 month ago

@acocac thank you for the feedback. We had completed edits to the paper.md, removing > 1000 words and have pushed these changes to the repository.

Thanks

Hi @OlssonF - thanks for implementing the suggested changes.

I've contacted two of the suggested reviewers. I'll share updates soon 👍.

acocac commented 1 month ago

@OlssonF I haven't received any response from the suggested reviewers. I'll try to find other volunteers from the JOSE list. Thanks for the understanding.
