This is a general draft to see how xlsx could be transformed into a slightly more machine friendly format. Closely connected to the discussion in #10. So this might be interesting for discussions with @goergen95 and @Jo-Schie ?

Jo-Schie commented 9 months ago

Hi @fretchen . That sounds great. I think @goergen95 is better qualified to really comment on this.

In one of the last mails on this topic I think we can be provided directly with the underlying XML, is that correct? I think it would be ideal to check this one out on this repo once it has been finalized. Also, I would argue that once that format is part of this repo, it would make sense to work with release tags in case there are future changes to the specification.

Made a quick check in this regard. It would seem that this process assumes that there is some survey worksheet etc. So this is not quite as striaght-forward as one might think. I still think that an update to table 2 will be hard to avoid if we try to have a more machine friendly work flow..

Not sure if I follow. In my view something like the table should be derived from the versioned XML. The XML is the valid specification, the table is the translation to a human-friendly format. Do you mean to derive the table automatically is an issue with the framework of this website?

No. I think that I poorly formulated my understanding. I completely agree with what you said. @ckreutz maybe you can just update us here once the form is ready ?

Yes, will do when we have the template done.
