FYI @alschaffer Updated NSAID codelist https://www.opencodelists.org/codelist/user/speed-vm/nsaids/2bf45524/ @chrisjwood16 this is ready for review when you have time please. What do you think about NSAIDs for period pain, and children's preparations?

alschaffer commented 4 months ago

Thanks! Our cohort only includes adults so excluding children's formulations is fine. Re: NSAIDs for period pain, when I look up Feminax Express the pharmacy websites (eg Boots) say: "Also suitable for relief of rheumatic pain, nerve pain, migraine, dental pain, fever and symptoms of cold and flu." So maybe include? Unless it's unlikely to be prescribed for non-period pain.

chrisjwood16 commented 4 months ago

@speed-vm I'd be tempted to be quite inclusive with this. I doubt much prescribing of the very specific period pain products but we are including other NSAIDs most likely used for dysmenorrhoea e.g. mefenamic acid. I think easier to include all NSAID products. Similar for oral solutions etc - most likely to be used for children but could be for complex patients with swallowing issues etc who would be excluded. The paeds patients will be screened based on study inclusion / exclusion criteria.

Excellent, I agree. Have added them all back in for inclusive approach. Codelist below

Reviewed and happy to approve. Just to note the description mentions this is an update of previous codelist - the previous codelist only included oral formulations - this also adds suppositories which seems reasonable but may change numbers slightly.
