I think it would be appropriate if this could also be labelled as a bug.
The principal issue concerns a particular class of road being consistently labelled with incorrect road numbers on the map.
In a navigation app, the display of incorrect road numbers seems to me of greater significance than is suggested by the label 'styles'.
Apologies if I've misunderstood anything here.
We label issues to hint at which part of the engine it should be fixed.
Technically, 90+% of all issues are bugs, so it would be more efficient to mark non-bugs as ideas or suggestions :)
Please don't ask to work on issue, doing this generates spam
I think shield A1 appears because the road is in A1 relation
I agree with this post https://github.com/organicmaps/organicmaps/issues/1244 in terms of the labelling of A-roads in the UK, but raise here further issues specifically related to 'A-road motorways'.
Roads with sections of A-road motorways can change their number along their length, but the maps often label them with two numbers in the same location.
For example, the A1 between London and Edinburgh is a single road with a number of either 'A1' or 'A1(M)' depending on whether or not it is a motorway section. The screenshot below shows it incorrectly labelled with both road numbers.
This issue is more evident on the motorway in SW Scotland that runs between the English border and Glasgow.
This is the 'A74(M)' for its southern half and the 'M74' for its northern half. The road number changes at the junction shown in the screenshot below. South of the junction it is not the M74 and so all the M74 labels south of here are incorrect and should not appear.
Finally, these A-road motorways should be labelled in blue as are other motorways in the UK, rather than green as they are currently.
