Hey Mat. We have other ways to improve IOPS than relying on local SSD storage. For the short term, second generation of high speed storage is ready to be deployed on our partner ends Aiven. In the forseable future we will also work on supporting a new and more performant class of remote storage offering better IOPS.
We still are studying internally relying on local SSD, but the "managed" part is more difficult to handle than remote storage.
ETA for upgrade to Gen2 storage for already running clusters ?
ETA for new remote storage class ? What kind of improvement ? Can you provide figures between Gen1, Gen2 and planned Gen3 compared to SSD/NVMe local performances ?
I am currently struggeling with my Managed DB perf, and regarding the price of the service which is quite expensive, we need to find a solution.
As a Managed Database (Postres) user i would like to be able to use local storage. Currently file storage based on network looks to be really a bottleneck. DB performances are not as expected.
Is there a way to add a setting, that could allow us to use a local SSD storage ?
