Report from the info session today.
We can send up to 3 people to the event. When applying they care about who precisely is our target population (scholars outside academia) and what is our commitment to the cause (we will make academic publications more accessible). There is a question what is new, which is not a problem, we have some history, but we are going in this and this direction, we are doing something new.
As in the case of any grants/calls, we have to explain how we will evaluate what we are doing. (I think we have easy metrics here, but we should not forget to mention them in all applications we are doing, not just this one: number of users, number of publications people read, number of annotations, and other interactions on the platform.)
There is a section "anything else". We should utilize it because everything else requires short answers.
Education category receives the most applications, but we should still use it, because we probably fit the most there and not in any other.
The whole even is more networking, but then you learn about other funding opportunities once you are in the network. But they like non-profit organizations/projects.
Spent 1 hour on this.
So who is working on this?
I'll get it started now. Rachel and others will take it from there ;)
Ok, I prepared as much as I could on Drive under "Clinton". Please follow this through - it needsreview and a couple of additional info here and there (marked in red). (spent an hour on this)

I made it accessible only to people inside our folder. Why you made it open?
Here is a document for with application preview: https://www.clintonfoundation.org/files/cgi_u_application_preview.pdf
OK. I checked, but I think there is a lot more work to do. So can you please finish all answers precisely? So instead of referencing something, write down. We have word limits and this is important. I should be able to really just copy-paste things in. (Also important because it allows us to have precise documentation what we submitted.)
Also, in Additional Comments write everything else we have not answered before. So just take from other applications and see which parts we have not addressed. I think things like challenges, partners, and so on. We have all that already written, so let's use it.
Afaik, others are working on this and I was just asked to help to start with it today. I had almost no time and this is as much as I could put together. I hope it is useful enough to work on further.
OK. I think @ciaobrian is also looking into it. How is that going?
And yes, it is useful. :-) It is already a lot.
I did not have too much time to look into this unfortunately with being out of town this weekend. I would like to offer suggestions though, and I will try to look into it later in the night. :)
So, how is this going? I will start working on this now.
Hi Mitar, let me help you if you need any help once I finish my weekly progress report. Let me know
Please do.
Currently working on this
OK. I made one major iteration. Please check. Somebody should also update all the bios I copied in from old application and sync them with short version from Google Docs.
BTW, if anyone else would like to join me at this event, this is the time. We can have up to three people.
Rachel spent 1 hour
@Klarster how long?
1 hr as said before :)
This is submitted right? Can we close then?
Your application ID # is 2559.
Done.
