Regarding the self-consistent illumination, you could try running the example emissivity profile script for a lamppost corona at some height above the black hole / disc. The example has the corona being $h = 10 r_g$ above the disc. You can then use this emissivity profile in the disc line calculation.
Once you can reproduce some of the figures discussed previously, you can explore new regions of parameter space.

You can replace the emissivity model with a lamppost corona (point source along the rotation axis of the black hole). What difference does this make to the line profiles?
