plepe / OpenStreetBrowser

An application to ‘browse’ the information in the displayed part of the map. Similar to common Wikis and also the main page of http://www.openstreetmap.org the website shows a narrow menu on the left side, most of the page is used for the display of the map. In contrast to most Wikis the menu is not static, but rather the content of the map can be browsed in categories. For the map a special style has been developed (sorry guys, I neither like the default Mapnik nor Osmarender styles), and special overlays are displayed to support the current browsed categories. When you click on an object (either from the list or directly on the map) informations on this object are displayed.

I want to translate the application to Galician. Where is the translation portal like Weblate?

plepe commented 5 years ago

Currently I'm not using a translation portal, the JSON files are edited by hand: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OpenStreetBrowser/Howto_translate

Weblate looks really nice, I was looking for something like this. I will look into installing it for OpenStreetBrowser. I hope I can set it up in a few days, please stay tuned :-)

So I start with the translation now or wait for that?

plepe commented 5 years ago

As you wish. Your contribution won't be wasted :-)

It's done! I just finished setting up Weblate. I really like it :-)

One module can't be translated via weblate, as it needs actual source code: https://github.com/plepe/openstreetmap-date-format

Have fun! If have have any comments, I'd like to hear them ...

Oh thanks! I'll get to it these days :)

The galician translation is now online! Have fun.

Please be aware that I need to import the translations manually, so this always takes a day or so.
