see subject. I used arch linux. Starting firefox from the cli reports that there is a memory error somewhere.

Could you please provide more information eg. a link to the episode you tried to play. I use Firefox on an Ubuntu and have not yet encountered such an issue.

pixeldrama commented 10 years ago

Any episode from http://not-safe-for-work.de produces this error, but episodes from http://wrint.de are simply not played. I do not have installed Flash or the VLC-Plugin (maybe you have under ubuntu?), so any fallback with these techniques do not work. With chromium everything is fine.

I have deactived all plugins and am still able to play NSFW files. Wrint does not work without plugins since Holgi only publishes MP3 files. Still, Firefox should be able to play the Opus files of NSFW.

I have tried https://wiki.archlinux.de/title/Firefox#Mplayer-Plugin but the problem remains.

A memory error is very likely a Firefox or maybe a medialement issue. In order to look closer, could you please provide the exact version or build number of your Firefox with the version of arch linux that you use?

Firefox Version: 26.0-2, Archlinux is a rolling release, so there is no version. Kernel Version is 3.12.7-2

Installed dependendecies: networkmanager: Location detection via available WiFi networks[Installiert] gstreamer0.10-base-plugins: vorbis decoding, ogg demuxing[Installiert] gstreamer0.10-good-plugins: webm and mp4 demuxing[Installiert] gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins: aac, vp8 and opus decoding[Installiert] gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins: h.264 and mp3 decoding[Installiert] gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg: more decoders[Installiert] libpulse: PulseAudio audio driver[Installiert]

Wrint works since I have installed the ugly-plugins, as you said.

What about forcing OGG playback by deactivating all but the base plugins to further narrow down possible encoder problems?

Firefox 26, Ubuntu 13.10 here. I found it on logbuch-netzpolitik (current episode) and removed all audio>source elements but the .oga-source; still crashes. gdb says segfault in libxul.so.

Reproduced it on different machines, but all hat Ubuntu 13.10/Firefox, but that should exlcude any HW-issue.

To add: Ogg on other sites (dradio.de) and webm works. I cant test the oga-stream itself, since the webserver forces a download if opened without the podlove-player. I i download the oga-file and open it in Firefox, it plays fine. Same with opus.
