quick add with email address doesn't add attendee

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use gcalcli quick
2. include an email address in the entry
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect google calendar - if open - to ask if it should send invite. email 
address should be added 
as guest for event.  neither happens.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
OS  X 10.5.2
