If it worked previously, it should start working again after logging in.I came back to this issue late otherwise i would have tried your suggestions i apologize one thing to note my laptop display would work fine when i plugged it into a separate monitor(different from the one mentioned above) as soon as i plugged it out or connected it to the original monitor it would go black, i was able to fix the configuration by logging into the gnome-session and deleting cosmic-comp as you mentioned.

This is my first major issue using cosmic as my main DE, while using multiple monitors in settings i accidentally disabled my laptop display however when i go to enable my display the button automatically turns off again and only my second display is visible ive tried plugging off my second display, rebooting and even re-installing cosmic but nothing works cosmic does not enable my laptop display
