Cannot find the compact title bar option. Has it moved? #586

I can not seem to locate the setting to have a compact title bar for applications. It is much bigger now. I have plenty of horizontal screen space. Vertical real estate is much more important to conserve, and wasting it with a huge title bar that I cannot change is rather frustrating. Has this setting been relocated, or has it been removed for some reason?

Thanks, -MH

I thought that option had disappeared upstream years ago. There may be a GTK theme or two out there that still does this, but I'm not sure where to point you for a theme like that. If you want to conserve vertical space, you can disable window title bars entirely with this setting in the Pop Shell settings menu: image

Functionally, windows can still be dragged around by holding the Super key when clicking and dragging anywhere on the window. Super+Q replaces the "X" button, and both minimize and maximize buttons can be mapped to the keyboard, if desired. Hope that helps.

I did indeed try that, though, without the knowledge that you could hotkey the ability to move the windows. I was just using the roughly 1px area at the top of the window that when hovered just right would let you move it as is.

Unfortunately, with all of the applications that I use daily, it is not exactly practical to attempt to completely change my workflow in this manner.

That said, I came across a gtk.css file that I was able to put into my ~/.config/gtk-3.0/ folder that seems to have done the trick to get the titlebar to a more reasonable size as seen below. Should this method cease to work in the future, I will definitely revisit your above mentioned method. :+1:
