SMB Network support #49

I have a couple servers and a desktop PC. I store vids/pics across the network of devices. To view them, I have to use a third party app to navigate to them and another gallery app to view them.

Suggestion: One way I imagine this is to have a separate view on the left hand menu. Maybe between Timeline and Favorites.

Also, when opening pics while in a File Explorer app like Root Explorer, opening a photo doesn't give PG as a possible app. I surmise that this is because it doesn't have network support built into the app?

Can you point me to an app which does this? This shouldn't be hard to implement since Android treats the SMB server as a removable storage, same as SDCards and I already have support for it. But getting a setup going on at my end to test this is the issue. Any suggestions on how to get a SMB running from a windows PC or Mac?

Opening pics in PG isn't implemented yet...been on my list forever. Will implement soon.

Camera Roll does it. Google photos also shows up in the available apps. Quick Pic does as well but I'm using the neutered pre-Chinese Cheetah version.

I was asking about the applications with SMB support...

Nostang3 commented 6 years ago

Oh...sorry. I use Root Explorer to navigate to my SMB shares.

I'm preparing for a v1 release...meaning no new features for a while. I want to address bugs and improve stability for a while. This feature will be delayed a bit...sorry

No worries. I just throw out ideas when I think of them.

Cool. While you're at it, can you help me setup a SMB share on my network? Do you have a good tutorial to guide thru that?

This seems like a straight forward guide to do it with photos. Let me know how this works out for you.
