I made an absolute mess of my notebook since I didn't make a copy of the original cell before modifying things.

I have empathy for former me and future students so I added a copy of the cell in part 2.

this is a great idea. I do this all the time with present me vs. past and future me. If we had more time i would say we should make a directive and do this for all the code blocks (have an expandable duplicate that can be edited without wrecking the existing cell)
