So, the Ubuntu default "MoviePlayer" (which worked) is not based on mplayer?
Anyway, is there a bug tracker for mplayer somewhere, or anywhere I can forward
or report this? Google is a bit less than helpful at the moment.

I believe the Ubuntu MoviePlayer is Totem.
Mplayer is found at http://www.mplayerhq.hu

They wouldn't happen to have a bug tracker anywhere? It doesn't seem to be
directly on the site.
