I'm mostly reaching out hoping to get help in advertising the call for speakers to your members. I think this form probably still applies? :)

The Basics

Are you a PyLady or an Ally? Ally

What is the event about? Outlier is a data visualization conference, hosted by the Data Visualization Society

What language is your event in? The main language of the event will be English. However, this is a global event, with long days to span all time zones, and we are openly and actively welcoming speakers to speak in languages other than English should that be more comfortable for them.

Where is your event Code of Conduct? Here is the Data Visualization Society's code of conduct. However, we are currently analyzing this code of conduct, looking for additions we may need to add for an event of this nature. (This will be the inaugural run!)

How does the event tie into the PyLadies goals and initiatives? Data visualization is unique in that it is a field that spans many tools and libraries. Python is one of them! We hope to attract a diverse panel of speakers, and that includes diversity in tooling.

How will support from the PyLadies enhance the event? It will increase the diversity of the talks given. :D

When and where is the event taking place? Online February 4-5, 2021

Is there an official page or document for the event? Events: https://www.outlierconf.com/; call for speakers: https://www.outlierconf.com/speak

What are the benefits for the sponsorship (e.g. promotion, event tickets)? Representation of your members on the speaking panel. Happy to talk about additional benefits should you like, especially once we have ticket sales posted. :)

The Funding or Support

What do you need from the PyLadies? (Check all that apply)

Outreach 👪 Speakers 🗣

Based on the above please let us know the quantity and reason for the need: We hope to attract a diverse panel of speakers, and that includes diversity in tooling. This includes python. :)

Are you requesting funding or resources from other diversity and inclusion minded tech groups? We're reaching out to as many groups as we can think of! Happy to take additional suggestions should you have any in mind. Here are some of our ideas so far.

Final Thoughts

When do you need an answer by? Speaker applications are due Dec 1st. So it'd be great to get this posted to membership by early November. :)

Any additional details you want to provide?

Are there any other PyLadies working with you on this? If so, please tag them here.

STEP 2

This section is for the PyLadies Sponsorship team. It will help us track the conversation and the deets that come out of the decision.

Reviewed at meeting date: Status: Approved/Rejected STEP 3

Once the event is over we would love to hear about how it went.

Please provide a link to a post or provide a brief synopsis of how the event went.

Got pics? Please provide a link where PyLadies can access them.
