Oversize frames when functioning as AP (hostapd) #80

I've been running down what seems to be a bug in a separate ticket (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109471) and just recently found that I could mitigate the problem by switching to a different USB network adapter. The problem (oversize Ethernet frames, which get dropped by destination) seems to only show up when I'm using my TP-Link TL-WN-722N (ath9k_htc) USB wifi adapter. Syslog shows the firmware in use to be "htc_9271.fw, PHY Atheros AR9271 Rev:1".

I like the TP-Link USB adapter because it has an external RPSMA antenna port and I can connect it to a high gain antenna. The other adapters have dinky internal antennas. I'd love to get the TP-Link working.
