BUG: check boxes in vscode visual editor are not rendering correctly

As you can see, the check point list has two issues:

every line starts with an unnecessary bullet point (I think this should not be there)
the check boxes in each line (as well as the bullet points) are different in line-distance and offset

I experienced some other weird aligning misrenderings as well, but if this is fixed, the rest is fixed too.
