# of households in ETM scenario does not correspond to # of units in LES #1551

Situation

My ETM scenario has 495 households, but when exported to ETM-SA gives 564 units for household aggregated.

Question

I want to use 495 households in my LES, which is the actual situation. My quick fix question is: Is the total demand for electricity 495 774 kWh/year of 564 774 kWh/year? So, should I just change the # of units, of should I also change the demand?

The real question is where this difference comes from.

This scenario has 495 households, both in present and in the future. image

When I export it to a LES the LES has 564 units for household aggregated. image.

The total number of buffers for hot water and space heating adds up to 471. This corresponds to the ETM scenario which has 4.8% CHP that is not exported to the LES.

It might be helpful that even thought the number of residences is 495 the scaling seems to be 564.

Well, the number of residences is 495 both in 2013 and in 2035. This is also shown in the picture of the first message. So I don't think so.

@AlexanderWirtz made this scaled scenario. Maybe he can give insight into where the 564 comes from.

Just talked to @AlexanderWirtz This issue seems to come from the way the scenario has been made. Another scaled scenario (IABR) was used to base this scaled scenario on. The scaling does not correspond to the number of residences in the scenario.

I think that for the export to ETM-SA the scaling is used for the number of base load units and that number of residences is used to divide the units of water and space heating technologies.

To me it seems most realistic to use number of residences for both. Or at least use the same parameter for both.

In this scenario 122 old residences are replaced with 60 new ones. So the present total number of residences is 504, the future number is 442.

With exporting to a LES the same problem occurs, household aggregated contains 504 units. The number of space and water heating technologies does add up to 442, which in my opinion is correct.

@DorinevanderVlies there's a difference in the way the demand for buffers is determined than there's in the way the demand for households is determined.

The buffers uses gqueries to determine the demand (hot_water_buffer and space_heating_buffer). The households demand is calculated with electricity base load demand.

To explain the difference in units. It's because there are a lot of input values set on scenario 596669. And I'm not sure - at this point - what is intervening with what (I need some time to investigate that properly). List of set input statements:
