I’ve had the same problem, it comes up with this error and then xubuntu stops working and have to force restart. Edit: I got it working, I deleted and reinstalled it, and this time I waited until after Mac OS was fully installed and at the Mac desktop before I clicked “finished set up” and did the usb patching, then after reboot I opened terminal and did “sudo s -“ (I think that’s the right command, might have been “sudo -s” can’t quite remember) and entered my password so that it went to root, and then did “sudo bash” and dragged over the bootvm file and it worked fine, now just gotta figure out how to use checkra1n

Hi, I am having the same issue and this is my third attempt at this. Initially i was getting the input output error but like 15 of them, then if I moved my mouse, ubuntu started losing artifacts and things would stop working until it just crashed. This time, the screen turned black and said “started bpfilter” and it looks like it’s doing a loop of errors.

I got this working -- Make sure you are using xubuntu - with my research Ubuntu's Unity Desktop has a package (libimobiledevice?) that hooks into iPhones, ALSO make sure you are using a USB port that is connected to your motherboard and your keyboard and mouse plugged in as far away from that port you are using as possible. Do not use a USB header that is connected to your chasis.

Mine is still giving me an input/output error, even after trying what @Mr-Bobby said. Something in there also mentioned Catalina, even though the VM is Mojave, but I can’t check now because I’m getting tons of errors saying it’s now a read-only file system 😣
