gnome-mplayer-1.0.8 fails with GMLIB-Message: ERROR: Failed to get value of property 'sub_source'. GMLIB-Message: ID_SIGNAL=4 #696

GMLIB-Message: ERROR: Failed to get value of property 'sub_source'.
GMLIB-Message: ID_SIGNAL=4
GMLIB-Message: ERROR: MPlayer interrupted by signal 4 in module: filter video
GMLIB-Message: ERROR: - MPlayer crashed by an 'Illegal Instruction'.

Possible regression from gnome-mplayer-1.0.7, as it works here with 1.0.7 like
a charm.

The GMLIB-Message: ERROR: Failed to get value of property 'sub_source'. is also
in gnome-mplayer-1.0.7, should also be unrelated

I think this means that you might need to upgrade your version of MPlayer. Most
likely it is an error you can ignore if everything else is working OK.

I'm using mplayer-1.1.1, even an update to 1.2_pre20130729 didn't fix it.

Everything works fine with gnome-mplayer-1.0.7 but is broken with 1.0.8. No
video or audio output after clicking the play button.

Can you run gnome-mplayer from a terminal with the -v option so I can see the
messages. I am running the SVN code and everything is working here for me. Does
this happen with all files or just a few?

Actually now that I look at your message a little closer, you might try
changing your VO or disabling hardware acceleration. Those options may not be
supported by mplayer on your machine. 1.0.8 added more support for hardware
acceleration and that may be why you are seeing mplayer crash.

It could be related to the hw acceleration. It works on another system with
intel graphic (xf86-video-intel), but doesn't work on the system with amd
(fglrx). Can I disable the accel anywhere?

Yes, under Edit Preferences there is there Video Output selection box and
immediately under that is a checkbox to enable hardware acceleration. Uncheck
that box and try again.

It works now after playing around with these settings.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the noise. :)
