Test merged with fixes (parallel testing bug fix) #6

I forked from frioux's fork of haarg's fork, which is nearly a year old. I pulled in the changes you have made since then, changed some of the .travis.yml stuff, and the resulting travis tests passed.

I believe haarg's commits fix CPAN rts 91547, 57120, 91245

There's a couple of questions I have about some specific changes, but overall I think this is a great improvement.

I've tested release 1.39 across a number of perls, and tests run very quickly (and non-catastrophically!) in parallel. Thank you very much!
