Fix #77 based on @roninsightrx 's comment in the issue

(Note that this is on top of #78 assuming that change is coming. The real PR is only a one-line change, and it'll show up that way after merging #78.)

This caused a testing error. My guess is that it will need more evaluation before being merged.
