Hex logo should probably get a few notes about credit.
The logo is based on a public domain SVG of an extinct fossilized butterfly, Lithopsyche antiqua (Butler 1889), from PhyloPic: http://phylopic.org/image/25859fca-a328-495d-ba87-20eb3b6ce030/, Image by Frederick William Frohawk (vectorized by T. Michael Keesey). Though the species is now lost to us, antiqua is beautifully preserved in the stone. The butterfly is also a nod to the logo of NCEAS, the ecological synthesis center which has developed and supported EML. Though I did an initial rough pass, the current hex icon was designed and contributed by Lauren Walker in https://github.com/ropensci/EML/pull/25.
@laurenwalker is there an appropriate copyright / license that should be associated for the icon?
All of our staff work is "Copyright Regents of the University of California", but we can put it under an open CC license that is consistent with the EML license overall.
