error Unable to determine hardware version. I see: Hardware : BCM2835 #21

Getting this error after running apt-get distupgrade command this morning.

Unable to determine hardware version. I see: Hardware : BCM2835 ,

expecting BCM2708 or BCM2709. If this is a genuine Raspberry Pi then please report this to projects@drogon.net. If this is not a Raspberry Pi then you are on your own as wiringPi is designed to support the Raspberry Pi ONLY.

Crashes homebridge. I think it's related to kernal version 4.9 and wiring pi. See this link https://github.com/firsttris/mfrc522-rpi/issues/1

I figured it out. I had an old local version that i installed that was messing things up. Latest version is 2.44 and it works with kernel 4.9.
