I've downloaded z.sh from my browser and checked with grep that there are no \r characters inside.

in zsh: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh:8: parse error near '\n'

in bash:

bash: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh: line 7: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
bash: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh: line 7: `<!DOCTYPE html>'
bash: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh: line 7: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
bash: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh: line 7: `<!DOCTYPE html>'
bash: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh: line 7: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
bash: /home/Vince/.local/bin/z.sh: line 7: `<!DOCTYPE html>'

(I'm using babun)

You most likely downloaded the wrong file. Right clicking -> Save on GitHub will download the webpage instead of the file. Clone or manually paste the contents of z.sh.
